HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - John Hester scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds Saturday night as Central State defeated Northern Kentucky University, 86-82, in the championship game of the John L. Griffin - Lions Club Classic at Regents Hall.

Hester, a 6-foot-6 senior forward, was named the tournament's most valuable player as Central State improved to 6-0.

Freshman forward Craig Sanders scored a career-high 31 points to lead NKU, which fell to 2-1. Craig Conley added 14 points for the Norse, while teammates Brian Lawhon and Brian Schaefer each scored 11.
