Polls all shook up

Monday, November 30, 1998

The UC Bearcats and Connecticut Huskies reaped the benefits of UC's 77-75 win over top-rated Duke at the Great Alaska Shootout.

UC (5-0) leaped from 14th to seventh in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, and Connecticut (4-0) took over the top ranking. Duke (5-1) fell to fourth.

Xavier (4-2), which lost to Pittsburgh (94-76) and San Francisco (82-69) in Puerto Rico, fell 12 spots to No.22.

Miami (4-2), which beat Boston University Friday, made its first appearance in the poll at No. 23. Miami plays at Xavier Wednesday night.

Kentucky (5-1), which lost to Pittsburgh (68-56) in Puerto Rico Shootout, fell from fourth to eighth.
