LEBANON - The annual Christmas concert by the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is helping raise money for Kyle Hesselbrock, the 2-year-old Deerfield Township boy dying of Tay-Sachs disease.
Tay-Sachs is an incurable genetic disorder that destroys the nervous system.
A table will be set up at the concert where those attending can give money that will go toward some of Kyle's medical expenses and for research.
"I'm not a rich person, but God gave me a voice," said Carol Donovan, who sings in the chorus and whose husband, David, founded the musical organization.
"We can't write a $10,000 check, but we have a chance to raise awareness."
The concert is being held at the Lebanon High School auditorium at 4 p.m. Dec. 20. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and students.
If the place is packed and everyone gives just $1, that would mean $1,300 to help fight Tay-Sachs, Mrs. Donovan said.
The assistance comes at a welcome time for Kyle's parents, Suzanne and Andy Hesselbrock.
"We're really happy all these people are helping, but at the same time, the holidays are taking a toll," Suzanne Hesselbrock said.
