Another chapter in their lives

BEANIE MADNESS SLOWS

The Beanie boomlet has leveled off — at least at the Osborne home.

Jon and Jennifer Osborne of Loveland were introduced May 13 in a feature about the growing number of adult Beanie Baby collectors.

At the time, the Osbornes had amassed 1,000 Beanies, estimated to be worth $30,000.

Mr. Osborne says the number has since dropped about 600 as the couple sells off more of their collection at Beanie shows.

“People are buying and selling cheaper than they were four months ago,” he says. “There will always be a market because people will continue to collect them, but I believe the popularity has peaked.”

He's holding onto the most sought-after Beanies, such as the 98 teddy, peace bears, Princess Diana bears and the Santa Claus, which were released this fall and have already been retired by the manufacturer, Ty Inc.

The couple will host a Beanie show 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 9 at Salsa's Mexican Restaurant, Blue Ash.
