MIGHTY DUCKS 3, ST. JOHN 0

Reichert, Ram key road win

SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick. — Craig Reichert had two goals and Jamie Ram stopped 42 shots as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks blanked the Saint John Flames 3-0 Saturday night in the American Hockey League.

The victory improved the Ducks' record to 13-18-0-3 for 29 points, including 3-1-0-0 through the first four games of a six-game road trip.

“We came out prepared to answer the bell,” Ducks coach Moe Mantha said. “We also got good goaltending from Jamie.

“To win, especially on the road, you need to have the goaltending and Ram has been providing that for us on this road trip.”

Ram's shutout was the 10th of his career and first as a Mighty Duck.

He had three shutouts last season for the Kentucky Thoroughblades, including two against Cincinnati.

Ram is 3-1-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average and .962 save percentage in his last four starts.

Eric Lecompte scored a third-period goal for Cincinnati.

Rookie Dany Bousquet continued to impress, recording an assist for the second consecutive game.

“(Dany Bousquet) has good puck sense and is very smart away from the puck,” Mantha said. “He's played very well so far and gives us some skill and talent at the center-ice position, which we needed.

“You never know, he could wind up becoming my third line center.”

Karpenko, a 1995 draft pick of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, made 27 saves for Saint John, which extended its winless streak to six games with the loss. The Flames are 0-5-0-1 in that stretch.

Cincinnati played without right wing Frank Banham (hand injury) for a second consecutive game.

Joining Banham on the sideline Saturday were left wings Jeremy Stevenson (knee) and Tony Mohagen (concussion).

The Mighty Ducks play at Fredericton today at 1 p.m.
