NKU 95, WIS.-PARKSIDE 53
Norse win seventh in row
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. Craig Sanders and Brian Lawhon each scored 20 points Saturday as Northern Kentucky University defeated Wisconsin-Parkside 95-53 in Regents Hall.
NKU, which extended its winning streak to seven games, built a 38-18 halftime lead. The Norse made seven three-point shots before halftime.
Our defense was excellent in the first half, and we were able to force them out of their offense, NKU head coach Ken Shields said. Of course, Craig Sanders and Brian Lawhon really shot the ball well from long range.
Lawhon (Sycamore) was 6-of-10 from three-point range, and Sanders (McNicholas) made 4-of-7 three-pointers. The Norse made 16-of-29 three-point attempts and won the rebounding battle 47-26.
When we shoot the ball like this we're tough to beat, but I was also pleased with the way we rebounded the basketball, Shields said.
Craig Conley (LaSalle HS) scored 11 points and led NKU with eight rebounds. NKU, which improved to 11-4 overall, is now 8-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
