Newport Aquarium offers memberships

NEWPORT — Oceanic Adventures Newport Aquarium has begun selling one-year memberships because of inquiries from people in Greater Cincinnati.

The $40 million aquarium, located between Third Street and the Ohio River floodwall in Newport next to the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, is scheduled to open in early May, displaying more than 11,000 aquatic animals in 60 exhibits.

Aquarium vice president and general manager John Tighe said the facility had planned to offer the one-year memberships closer to the aquarium's opening, but the demand over the past few weeks was so strong the decision was made to offer memberships immediately.

The one-year memberships are $106 for a family; $35 for an adult; $21 for a child; and $30 for seniors. One-day general admission will be $13.75 for adults; $8.50 for children under 13; and $11.50 for seniors.

Memberships can be purchased by calling the aquarium at 1-888- 314-FISH, or by filling out an application on the aquarium Web site www.newportaquarium.com
