DAYTON, Ohio A man accused of injuring a policewoman and a motorist in Dayton before leading a car chase that ended in a crash in downtown Cincinnati was found guilty of most of the charges Wednesday.
After seven hours of deliberation over two days, a Montgomery County Common Pleas Court jury convicted Dreston Walker of 13 charges, including counts of felonious assault, felonious assault on a police officer, aggravated robbery, aggravated vehicular assault, failure to comply with a police order and domestic violence.
The jury found Mr. Walker, 28, of suburban Trotwood, not guilty on one count of felonious assault and could not reach a verdict on another count of felo nious assault.
The April 25 spree started when a man started firing on two police officers who tried to serve a domestic-violence warrant at a home in Dayton.
Officer Sitesa Van Nuys was shot, and the gunman tried to steal a car on a nearby street, shooting and wounding the driv er in the back, police said. Officer Van Nuys was treated for a wound to her buttocks.
The gunman commandeered another vehicle, went to his girlfriend's home and fired inside, police said. No one was injured there.
The suspect then fled south on Interstate 75 to Cincinnati, where he drove through a red light at a downtown intersection with police in pursuit and collided with another vehicle.
Mr. Walker and a man in the other vehicle were slightly hurt.
