MIDDLETOWN The cases of two area men who were arrested Jan. 19 after a shooting and wild chase during which shots were fired at police were bound over to a Butler County grand jury Wednesday.
The preliminary hearings for Roy A. Clark, 25, of South Lebanon, and Noel Richardson, 19, of Springdale, were held before acting Judge Patrick Binns.
Mr. Clark is being held in Middletown Jail in lieu of $1,050,000 bond. He is charged with three counts of felonious assault on a police officer, aggravated robbery, resisting arrest and eluding a police officer.
Mr. Richardson, who is in Middletown Jail in lieu of $650,000 bond, is charged with felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated robbery and two counts of felonious assault with a weapon.
Both likely will be transferred to Butler County Jail today.
Late Jan. 18, police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Calumet Avenue. They found Frank Holdbrook Sr., 40, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police arrested Mr. Richardson near the scene. Police say Mr. Clark led them on a wild chase, firing at them out the car window. The chase continued into Union Township, Butler County, where he ran into a wooded area while continuing to fire on police. He was found hiding in a tree.
Mr. Holdbrook was in fair condition Wednesday at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
