Woman pleads guilty in burglary
BY DAN HORN
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A woman who inadvertently helped police catch convicted killer Melissa Vanover pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary.
Angela Armacost, 21, entered the plea after prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious charge of aggravated burglary. She also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.
Prosecutors say Ms. Armacost and others ransacked the home of Michael Nieman in June after Miss Vanover shot him to death.
They say Miss Vanover called her friends after the shooting. An esti mated $350,000 in cash and jewelry was taken from Mr. Nieman's Miami Township home.
A day later, Ms. Armacost was pulled over by police in Blue Ash who said she was speeding. Inside the car, police found Miss Vanover and a black bag stuffed with cash.
Ms. Armacost could be sentenced to as much as 10 years in prison, but she is unlikely to get more than one year. She also could get probation.
She and three co-defendants Kevin Green, John E. Green and Johnny Green agreed to plead guilty to lesser charges in exchange for their testimony at Miss Vanover's murder trial.
Prosecutors have said their testimony was a key factor in Miss Vanover's aggravated-murder conviction last week.
The Greens all were sentenced Tuesday to one year in jail. Ms. Armacost, of Dillonvale in Sycamore Township, served 35 days but has remained free on bond for the past six months.
She will be sentenced Feb. 23 by Judge Arthur Ney in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
