Magnet signups Saturday
Locations available by phone in morning
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Parents interested in enrolling their children in one of Cincinnati Public Schools' magnet programs can sign up starting Saturday.
Sign-up sites in each quadrant of the district will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. A fifth sign-up site also will be available for students wanting to apply to the Hughes Center.
Parents should call 684-4172 at 7 a.m. Saturday to learn sign-up locations.
An afternoon sign-up site will be open 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at district headquarters, 2651 Burnet Ave., Corryville. More than 200 parents applied in the afternoon session last year.
Applications will be accepted through Feb. 19.
Magnet schools offer programs with a special focus or specialized teaching style. They include Montessori, Paideia, elementary college preparatory, fundamental academy, arts enrichment, Cincinnati Academy of Math and Science and foreign languages.
Some programs have limited spaces and waiting lists, including Silverton Paideia, Roselawn Condon, Mount Washington, Heinold, Clark Montessori, Quebec Heights and the Hughes Center.
Eighth-graders also can sign up for Career Paths, a four-year, citywide program that allows students to train for certain careers.
And students can apply to Woodward High School's year-round program, which allows them to graduate in three years.
Unless students are interested in a citywide magnet school, they must apply at the sign-up location in their quadrant. Those unsure of their quadrants can call 475-7099.
For details on magnet programs, call 475-7020.
