Community members could help in conductor search

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra hopes to have its search committee in place by its next board meeting, Feb. 11, says board chairman Trish Bryan.
We are still in the process of identifying the chair, Mrs. Bryan says. The committee will include the four main officers of the board, CSO president Steven Monder, concertmaster Timothy Lees and one other musician, she says.
Mrs. Bryan hopes to include community members who are interested in the orchestra.
We're trying to make it encompassing and embrace different members of the community, she says. We'll expand beyond board members.
Although the final makeup of the committee will be up to the chairman, she envisions a two-tiered search committee. It would consist of a steering committee of 12-14 people to do the leg work and a larger advisory committee giving input.
There would be a lot of communication between the two groups, she says.
She knows the search could take at least two years, and may involve some travel for committee members.
We don't want to rush. We want to make the right decision, she says.
