Taft High teacher accused of kissing girl

Man reassigned after arrest; CPS investigating

The Cincinnati Enquirer

A physical education teacher at Taft High School has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Christopher Givens, 33, who is also the head boys basketball coach at Taft, was arrested Saturday at 1:29 a.m. Police found Mr. Givens kissing a 16-year-old Withrow High School female student inside a car in the 1700 block of Pomona Court, according to the police report.

Mr. Givens was reassigned Monday to another position in Cincinnati Public Schools “that has no contact with students,” said district spokeswoman Eileen Houston-Stewart.

The district is conducting an internal investigation, which could last about a week. If the allegations are found to be true, Mr. Givens could be suspended or terminated.

If found guilty of the first-degree misdemeanor charge, Mr. Givens faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Bond was set at $1,000. Mr. Givens was not being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center Monday night, an employee said.

Mr. Givens could not be reached for comment.
