Local airport little affected by sickout
BY AMY HIGGINS The Cincinnati Enquirer
If Tristate residents needed to get only from the Cincinnati to Dallas or from Cincinnati to Chicago, the American Airlines' pilot job action didn't slow them down much.
It seems to be business as usual, at least here, said Joe Feiertag, spokesman for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Of American's three scheduled daily flights between Cincinnati and Dallas, only the 11:49 a.m. flight was canceled because the airline was unable to crew the plane, according to the reservations system.
Travel agent Lee Gentry, co-owner of Travel King in Kenwood, said that the system showed the 12:30 p.m. Delta Air Lines flight from Cincinnati to Dallas was sold out. Most of Delta's five daily flights to Dallas still had room.
Delta spokesman Todd Clay said the airline, which controls about 90 percent of flights from Cincinnati, was accepting American tickets for canceled flights. American Eagle's five daily flights from Cincinnati to Chicago were not affected.
