        The little girl races from the car to the beach. Behind her tinted goggles, her eyes grow wide — taking in the white-capped Atlantic Ocean waves, the seagulls and sea shells.

        Clutching her tiny beach ball, Abby steps into the surf for the first time in her life and has a normal reaction: “Wow! Look at all that water.”

        As others lounge nearby in bathing suits, Abby — draped head-to-toe in her gray NASA suit — takes a moment to reflect. The sun's rays are warm, but right now, she doesn't mind.
