Retired P&G VP back in Cincinnati after collapse
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Lavatus Powell Jr., a retired Procter & Gamble vice president and business leader, was returned to Cincinnati Friday several days after suffering an apparent stroke during a plane flight to California.
Mr. Powell, 64, had been flying Sunday to visit a newborn grandchild when he collapsed, forcing an emergency landing in Lubbock, Texas. He was taken to Texas Tech University Medical Center Hospital.
He was listed in serious condition at Texas Tech on Friday, when he was transported to Cincinnati's Be thesda Oak Hospital. At the request of the family, Bethesda spokespeople refused to release his condition on Saturday.
Over the years, Mr. Powell has served on several civic groups and business organizations. In 1997, he received an Imagemaker award from Applause! magazine, honoring his efforts to promote education.
