MIGHTY DUCKS 5, SAINT JOHN 3
For once, Ducks make third period theirs

The Ducks, 0-19-0-1 coming into the game when trailing after two periods, rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat Saint John 5-3 Saturday night in an American Hockey League game at the Gardens.
The Ducks were led by Frank Banham, who hadn't scored in a month in a half. He notched a natural hat trick in the third period. It's only the second time in 58 games in franchise history that the team has won after trailing after two periods.
The Ducks (23-24-0-4) extended their team record win ning streak to six games. Cincinnati finished its team record 11 game homestand with a 8-3-0-0 record. The Ducks also tied last season's win total.
When things are going bad, good teams still find a way to win, Ducks coach Moe Mantha said. We found a way to win.
It's good momentum going into the (upcoming three-game road) trip. If we had lost, we would have started to wonder, maybe, goalie Tom Askey said. But now there's no doubt about it, we're on fire.
Askey, who won his eighth straight game, preserved the win with some clutch saves down the stretch.
Banham's three goals in the third period, including an empty-netter, led the comeback ef fort.
You wait to get the first (goal) out of the way, then usually they just come like that, Banham said. You could tell by the third goal, the right bounce and it went in. Once the bounces go your way, they start going in.
Banham's one-timer goal just after a Ducks power play expired tied the game 3-3. It was Banham's first goal since Dec. 29, a span off 13 games. Defenseman Dan Trebil had scored 2:30 earlier, his second goal in two games.
It was a game the Ducks didn't deserve to win, as they suffered through a malaise through the first two periods. The Ducks played as though they were 0-6-0-1 in their last seven games, like Saint John now is. But it was the Flames that led 3-1 after two periods.
I came into the locker room and said we're going to win, said Askey, who finished with 43 saves. You just got a feeling something was going to happen because Moe didn't come in after the period. Everything's rolling. We don't lose. That's basically what we said after the second, "We don't know how to lose, guys.'
