'Jeopardy!' to hold local tryouts
Jeopardy! is coming to Cincinnati May 4-5. The trivia game-show staff will test more than 200 adults, plus another 60 parent-child teams, for a new family tournament to air this fall.
Prospective candidates will be seen only by appointment, says Laine Sutten, Jeopardy! promotion director. Appointments will be booked starting March 23 by a toll-free telephone number announced on the show, she said, or through the show's Web site at
www.jeopardy.com.
WCPO-TV (Channel 9), which airs the show, will help book one of the 70-person audition sessions.
Three groups of 70 adults (210 total) will be given a written test of 50 questions. Those who score 35 or better will play a game. Producers will be looking for players with poise, confidence, accuracy, personality and ability to follow instructions.
For the family tourney, Jeopardy! will test parents with children born between August 1986 and July 1988.
About 25,000 adults throughout the country will audition for the next taping season (July-April). About 400 will be invited to Los Angeles (at their own expense) to tape a show.
Jeopardy! will pay for the parent-child teams' trips, Ms. Sutten said.
