CINCINNATI BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP


St. X upsets No. 1 West Hi

        Joel Cornette and Steve Sollmann each sank key free throws to lead No.3 St. Xavier to a 75-61 victory over No.1 Western Hills in a boys basketball game Saturday.

        Cornette scored 12 of his 20 points in the first half when St. X opened a 39-31 lead.

        The loss is just the third for top-ranked Western Hills and might cost the Mustangs a chance for their first city championship.

        “We just have to refocus and become more determined going into the tournament.” Western Hills Lannis Timmons said.
