Argument leaves 1 man shot
BY WILLIAM A. WEATHERS
The Cincinnati Enquirer
An argument between two good friends ended with a 63-year-old Over-the-Rhine man being shot in the face Sunday afternoon in a Pendleton apartment, Cincinnati police said.
The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. in a first-floor rear apartment in the 1300 block of Pendleton Street during an argument, said Sgt. John Day.
Ralph Taylor of the 500 block of East 13th Street, who was shot in the face near the chin, was taken to University Hospital, where he was in fair condition Sunday night after surgery.
Marvin Vaughn, 67, of the Pendleton Street address, was charged with felonious assault in the incident, police said. The shooting occurred in Mr. Vaughn's residence. A hand gun thought to have been used in the shooting was recovered.
The bartender in Joe's Cafe, which is next door to the building where the shooting occurred, said a woman came into the cafe and informed her of the shooting.
When the bartender, who identified herself only as Diane, went next door, she saw the victim lying on the floor with his face bleeding. She then went back to the cafe and called police.
The bartender said the victim and the suspect knew each other well. They're real good friends, she said.
