Another third-period disaster

        ALBANY, N.Y. If the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks hope to contend in the Calder Cup playoffs, they'll need to figure out a way to protect a third-period lead on the road.

        Albany scored three goals in a 1:03 span in the third period to beat the Mighty Ducks, 4-1, Wednesday in the American Hockey League.

        It marked the second straight game the Mighty Ducks have held a 1-0 lead with less than 10 minutes in regulation, but failed to come away with a victory.

        Igor Nikulin scored for the Mighty Ducks (27-30-1-4), who have lost their last three games. Craig Reichert assisted on Nikulin's goal to snap a five-game scoreless streak.
