Finneytown title long time coming
Phil Sweet scored 18 points Wednesday to lead Finneytown to its first district title in 35 years with a 59-35 win over Clinton-Massie at UD Arena .
I feel good for our kids, Finneytown coach Chuck Grosser said. We feel we can keep this going.
Finneytown's aggressive defense and bad shooting luck combined to devastate Clinton-Massie's offense. The Falcons managed just 22 percent shooting from the field, after shooting 44 percent for the year. On the night, they missed numerous easy looks.
Said Clinton-Massie coach Brian Mudd: This was just a nightmare where I wanted to hit the stop button and make it all go away.
Finneytown (17-6) moves on to regionals, where it will meet the winner of Wednesday's late game between Versailles and Milton-Union.
