Boy, 11, struck by auto downtown
An 11-year-old Price Hill boy who darted out into a downtown street Thursday morning is in serious condition at Children's Hospital Medical Center after being hit by a Jeep.
Mario Meatchem ran out from between two yellow school buses near the Aronoff Center for the Arts near Sixth and Main streets about 11:30 a.m., police said. He was not with the school groups attending the arts center.
The boy has a broken leg and facial bruises. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
No charges have been filed. The Cincinnati Police Division's traffic unit is investigating.
6-year-old may have been raped
Cincinnati police are investigating allegations that a 10-year-old boy raped a 6-year-old boy Tuesday evening at Franciscan Hospital-Mount Airy Campus.
Both boys were in the hospital's psychiatric unit at the time of the alleged rape, said Lt. Steve Luebbe, commander of the police division's personal crimes unit. No charges have been filed.
17 get promotions in Cincinnati police
The 1,000-member Cincinnati Police Division has promoted 17 more officers.
In promotions announced Thursday:
Sgts. Gary Brown, Daniel Gerard and Joseph Williams become lieutenants.
These officers become sergeants: Phillip Barnes, Timothy Brown, Shirley Browner, David Corlett, Matthew Cornacchione, Darrin Graczyk, Teresa Theetge and William Watts.
Officers Kevin Ballman, John Connolly, Lynn Doran, James Fox, Greg Kanz and Charles Taber become specialists.
Not guilty plea in fatal crash
BATAVIA A Clermont County man pleaded not guilty Thursday to four charges in connection with a wreck that killed a woman and injured her husband Feb. 28.
Timothy Davis, 21, of Union Township faces two counts of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, one count of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Judge Robert Ringland of Clermont County Common Pleas Court set bail at $750,000 cash. A pretrial hearing was scheduled March 19 before Judge Jerry McBride. Mr. Davis remains in the Clermont County Jail.
Police say Mr. Davis' car struck the couple as they crossed Eastgate South Drive. Donna Ernst, 61, was killed and her husband, Earl, critically injured.
Man points gun at cops; is shot
TROTWOOD, Ohio A man was in critical condition at a hospital Thursday after he pointed a gun at police officers during a traffic stop and was shot.
Tim Thomas, 49, of Trotwood was in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital & Health Center.
Spokesman John Marzano said Mr. Thomas had been shot multiple times, but he did not know how many.
Trotwood police Capt. Jim Borland said officers fired at the man Wednesday after he pointed a gun at them.
Police had stopped Mr. Thomas earlier Wednesday but did not detain him. Later, they spotted his van and followed it to his home, Mr. Borland said.
