Boys regional preview

Seven Hills (19-4) vs. Fort Recovery (22-1)

        • Division: IV

        • Where: U. of Dayton Arena

        • When: 6:15 p.m. today

        • Admission: $5

        • Starting lineups: Seven Hills: Scott Whitehead (15.1 ppg), Eric Crew (16.4 ppg), Saliou Diagne (8 ppg), Steve Scroggins (3.5 ppg), Matt Drane (12.5 ppg). Fort Recovery: Scott Dilworth (9.5 ppg), Clark May (13 ppg), Ross Wendel (9.4 ppg), Chris Guggenbiller (9.8 ppg), Chuck Bihn (16.8 ppg).

        • Coaches: SH — Jeff Stowers; FR — Joe Bruns.

        • What to expect: This will be the most physical team that Seven Hills has played. Fort Recovery starts three players (May, 200; Guggenbiller, 230; Bihn, 225) over 200 pounds.

“We're balanced and about every player is averaging in double figures,” Bruns said. “Because of this balance, junk defenses don't work against us.”

Both Wendel, a 6-2, 185-pound senior, and Dilworth, a 6-foot junior, are excellent perimeter shooters. The three inside players have dominated on the boards.

“I saw Seven Hills play three quarters last week,” Bruns said. “They're much quicker than us and have play tough defense.”

Bruns expects Seven Hills to force the tempo.

Stowers hasn't seen Fort Recovery play, and didn't scout the Indians district championship game last week. “I don't put a lot into scouting,” Stowers said. “If we take care of what we have to do, we'll be alright.”

Stowers admitted that leading scorer Scott Whitehead must step us against Fort Recovery and the inside players must hold their own on the boards.

The winner advances to Friday's (7:30 p.m.) regional championship against Houston or Botkins.
