Xerox adds work for HSR of Springdale

        Xerox Corp. has expanded its account with Springdale-based Hensley Segal Rentschler to include coordination of public-relations efforts to industries, including the public sector, graphic arts, financial services and manufacturing. HSR initially assisted Xerox with its public-relations needs in local markets in North America.

        HSR, named Agency of the Year by Advertising Age's Business Marketing in 1998, has been featured in many publications, including the New York Times, AdWeek, PRWeek, NetMarketing, Marketing News, Marketing Tools and Integrated Marketing.

Telecom spending up 38.5% in one year
        Companies are cutting loose big bucks for telecommunications equipment, according to the Telecommunications Industry Association and the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association. Spending on computer/telecommunications integration hardware rose by 38.5 percent in 1998, compared with 1997.

        Look for the money to really flow by 2002, rising from the 1998 level of $949 million to an estimated $3.2 billion. Web-enabled call centers, which allow customers to speak to a live agent via contact at a Web site, have been enhanced because of the increased capitalization, the association determined.

        Call center spending by 2002 could total $3.4 billion, an increase of $1.2 billion over 1998. The financial services industry is the leading user of formal call centers, at 22 percent of the market.

Phone ads keyed to hoops fanatics
        The shelf life of some advertisements has a whole lot to do with the March Madness of the NCAA Tournament.

        Northlich Stolley LaWarre's campaign titled “The price of being a fan” offers a specially priced Nokia 5160 wireless telephone with a University of Cincinnati, University of Kentucky or Xavier University logo. The effort runs through March in local newspapers and features the antics of sport fanatics: painted faces and dyed wigs and such.

        When the tournament ends, look for the campaign to end as well.

Pro Cam Video wins three Tellys
        Pro Cam Video Productions captured three Telly awards for nonbroadcast video programs in the 1998 competition.

        “The Faces of Goodwill” received top honors in the public-relations category, while two other programs, “TANK: 20th Anniversary” and “Miami Magazine,” were honored in the public-relations and sports categories.

        Pro Cam Video is a full-service video production center in Sharonville.
