FORT WAYNE 5, CYCLONES 3

Bring back the reserves

After winning their two previous contests with a makeshift lineup, the Cincinnati Cyclones returned four key regulars Friday night at Firstar Center.

The result: a 5-3 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL.

Fort Wayne got a pair of third-period goals from Ian Boyce, including the game-winner with 2:16 left.

Fort Wayne goaltender Pokey Reddick made 40 saves for his 12th win of the season.

The Cyclones committed several first-period blunders and allowed three goals on the first six Fort Wayne shots.

“We were not sharp coming out of the gate,” Cyclones coach Ron Smith said. “They got some great goaltending and that was the difference in the game. Pokey has been good against us in his last two starts.”
