Clinton cancels Cincinnati visit
BY HOWARD WILKINSON
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Wednesday's strike on Yugoslavia forced the White House to cancel President Clinton's two-day Democratic fund-raising trip, including a luncheon today at the Amberley Village home of lawyer Stan Chesley.
The White House said the Cincinnati trip, which would have been the president's third visit to Mr. Chesley's home in less than a year, would be re-scheduled.
He's right where he ought to be in a situation like this in the White House, Mr. Chesley said.
About 40 people had been expected to attend the $10,000-per-couple fund-raising luncheon for the Democratic National Committee, including a number of Mr. Chesley's friends from out of state.
Mr. Chesley spent much of the afternoon calling guests telling them of the cancellation.
Most of them already had heard it, Mr. Chesley said. This is a pretty sophisticated group.
