Flynt asks if police had work permit for youth in porn sting

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Larry Flynt wants to know if police got a work permit for the teen-ager they used to purchase pornography at his Hustler store in downtown Cincinnati.

In a request filed Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, Mr. Flynt's attorneys asked prosecutors for a copy of the permit and other paperwork associated with the teen-ager.

Mr. Flynt contends the teen-ager, who is not being named because he is a juvenile, was used by police in an unfair sting operation against his store.

Mr. Flynt and his brother, Jimmy, have been charged with selling obscene videotapes from the store and will face trial in May.

Three of the charges stem from the alleged sale of tapes to the juvenile, who was 15 years old at the time.

The Flynts' attorneys say the teen-ager has been used as many as 50 times in other police investigations, usually involving the sale of alcohol to a minor.

A transcript of an unrelated trial shows that police paid the teen-ager as much as $40 for each job.

In the request filed Monday, the Flynts' attorneys asked prosecutors to give them copies of the teen-ager's work permit, his tax forms and any documents showing that he had permission from his guardians to participate in the police operations.
