CLEARCREEK TOWNSHIP Police continued Tuesday to investigate the shooting of a 44-year-old woman who told officers she was attacked while sitting outside in a hot tub.
Patricia Polatka, of the 5600 block of Utica Road, was treated for a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and released from Sycamore Hospital in Dayton on Monday after a roommate found her lying in the bathroom when he returned from work at 7 a.m.
Chief Walt McAlpin said officers were awaiting test results on a .22-caliber gun belonging to the homeowner that was found at the residence.
Nothing was taken from the home, where Ms. Polatka had been living for about three months, Chief McAlpin said.
Ms. Polatka told police the attacker, wearing black clothes and a ski mask, accosted her on the back deck at about 9 p.m. Sunday.
She said (the suspect) pointed the gun at her chest. She reached up and grabbed the weapon and was shot in the left shoulder, Chief McAlpin said.
