Sooners' Humphrey looks to transfer to UK
The Louisville Courier-Journal
Kentucky's basketball team is getting a look from All-Big 12 Conference player Ryan Humphrey.
Humphrey, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, announced Monday that he was leaving Oklahoma. His father, Al, said Tuesday that his son wants to transfer to Kentucky.
Hopefully we can get this thing finalized in a few days and Ryan can become a Kentucky Wildcat, Al Humphrey said from his home in Tulsa, Okla. Kentucky is what he's looking at now; I called UK myself for him.
Humphrey said his son also has mentioned North Carolina and UCLA. Time is his enemy now, Humphrey said. We want to get this situation completed as soon as possible.
Humphrey would have to sit out this season but would have two years of eligibility left.
UK recruited Ryan when he attended Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School.
Also, UK coach Tubby Smith was coach at the University of Tulsa when Humphrey was in high school, and Smith's son Saul was on an AAU team with Humphrey.
Ryan, a third-team All-Big 12 selection, averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in 26.9 minutes a game while shooting 50.2 percent for the Sooners (22-11), who advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
