Sarjeant shuts out ex-teammates 3-0
The Cincinnati Enquirer
INDIANAPOLIS Indianapolis Ice goaltender Geoff Sarjeant stopped 36 shots in a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones Friday night. The victory was Sarjeant's second over his former team in three games this season.
The shutout was Sarjeant's third of the season and second with Indianapolis. The Ice opened the scoring in the first period at the 1:42 mark, when right wing Nathan Perrott snuck the puck past Cyclones goalie Frederic Cassivi.
Left wing David Hymovitz fired home his 45th goal of the season with 43 seconds left in the middle period to give the Ice a two-goal cushion.
We're running out of chances to put away second place ourselves, Cyclones coach Ron Smith said. Our defensive effort has been pretty good recently, but we've got to find a way to get some offense.
Early in the final period, left wing Scott Morrow scored on a wraparound goal that would have cut the margin to 2-1, but the referee waved off the goal, declaring that a Cincinnati player was in the goal crease.
Right wing Craig Mills capped the scoring for Indy.
