GREEN TOWNSHIP Tony Schoenling, 17, a LaSalle High School junior, will receive a plaque for heroism 8 p.m. Monday in the Green Township Administration Building, 6303 Harrison Ave.
Tony pulled his friend, Eric Giordano, 16, from a burning car on Jessup Road on Feb. 8. (STORY)
Eric lost control of his car after passing Tony near the 4400 block of Jessup Road. His car spun off the road, striking several mailboxes and crashing into a tree.
Tony risked his life and did the correct thing, said Mike Nie, public information officer for the fire department.
The plaque will be presented during the township trustees meeting.
