Lakota shifts 180 elementary pupils
UNION TOWNSHIP Some pupils in the Lakota Schools will change buildings in August to ease crowding at Cherokee and Freedom elementary schools.
Children who live in Butler County's Meadow Ridge subdivision will move from Freedom to Adena Elementary. Those who live in the Countryside Estates Trailer Park and Cherokee Estates subdivision will move from Cherokee to Liberty Elementary.
About 180 students will be affected by the move, which is a change from the redistricting plan presented to the school board last month. Several parents, angered at the moves, spoke out against the original plan. Their comments prompted the board to postpone its decision and schedule two meetings on it.
The original plan had about 280 students changing schools. The revised plan was adopted Monday.
