COLERAIN TOWNSHIP One man was killed early Thursday when the car he was riding in struck the rear of a flatbed truck on Blue Rock Road near Hanley Road.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was riding in a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro driven by John Snyder, 32, of the 7300 block of Thompson Road in Colerain Township, officials said.
Mr. Snyder was jailed on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
Investigators said Mr. Snyder failed a sobriety test.
His blood alcohol level was determined to be 0.191, nearly twice the legal limit, said Melissa Powers, an assistant prosecutor with the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office.
The accident occurred about 1:30 a.m. as the truck, northbound on Blue Rock, attempted to turn right into a parking lot at 3600 Banning Road, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said.
Mr. Snyder was behind the truck and was attempting to pass it when the passenger side of his car struck the rear of the truck, officials said.
The victim carried no identification and Mr. Snyder refused to tell authorities who his passenger was, Ms. Powers said.
