Forum to look at improving air quality
Hamilton Co. project identified priorities

The first community forum to take up issues raised by the Hamilton County Environmental Priorities Project will be May 6.
The forum, devoted to improving air quality in Greater Cincinnati, will begin at 7 p.m. at the IAMS Research Park off Paddock Road south of Seymour Avenue in Bond Hill/Carthage.
Topics include current efforts and new standards, related health issues, and what should be/can be done next.
Speakers include:
Dennis Murphey, director of Cincinnati's Office of Environmental Management.
Toxicologist Dr. Dan Petersen.
Rachael Belz, director of Ohio Citizen Action in Southwest Ohio.
J. Michael Geers, a senior engineer in Cinergy's environmental services.
Lee Mulkey, associate director for ecology in the national risk-management research laboratory at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Cincinnati.
Sterling Uhler, president of the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments.
When the two-year environmental priorities project handed over its work to various community groups last year and closed, one of its recommendations was to keep a channel open to the public.
The forum is the first attempt to redeem that recommendation, said Cory Chadwick, a member of the sponsoring county Environmental Action Commission and director of the county Department of Environmental Services.
Mr. Chadwick said further community forums would reflect lessons learned at the inaugural effort.
Co-sponsors include the American Lung Association of Ohio, Cincinnati Environmental Advisory Council, Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, League of Women Voters and Regional Ozone Coalition.
