GET TO IT

A guide to help make your day

Going out
        • Sizzlin' entertainment: Food TV chefs Bill Boggs, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Curtis Aikens rattle their saute pans noon-5 p.m. today at the Westin, downtown. They're part of the Cooking Across America Tour. If $35 a pop seems a little steep to watch kitchen celebs cook, remember that food and vino will be served. (800) 949-2433.

• Burstin' with blues: Guitarist Tommy Castro plays it all — rock 'n' roll to Memphis soul — 9:30 p.m. tonight, Jefferson Hall, Over-the-Rhine. $10. 723-9008.

• Doo-wop, doo-wop: The Manhattan Transfer brings jazz, R&B, bossa nova, rock 'n' roll — and doo-wop — to Miami University's Millett Hall, 8 p.m. today. $25, $21 seniors. (513) 529-3200.

Staying in
The Simpsons' best episode this year repeats at 8 p.m. (Channels 19, 45), with a spoof of sci-fi conventions. Homer ends up as a bodyguard for Mark Hamill (who provides his own voice). TV critic John Kiesewetter also recommends Diahann Carroll and Ruby Dee starring as the Delany sisters, the centenarian authors whose best seller has been adapted for a movie, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years (9 p.m., Channels 12, 7).

• Web site of the day: William Shakespurr, Sigmund Fureud and Lucy & Ricky Ricatto are a few of the celebrities featured in the Cat Hall of Fame mewseum at www.CatHallofFame.com. The site is from the duo who wrote The Cat Hall of Fame book (Carol Publishing; $14.95).

What's in stores today
        • Fun Thousand Years: Don't get stuck in the 20th century. The Millenniumopoly board game takes a look at the people, places and events of the last 1,000 years. Buy property and collect Blocks of Time, but dodge that ol' Y2K Bug. For ages 8 and up. About $25.

Enquiring minds
        • But no headache: Abnormal hair growth, speech disorder, amnesia, loss of libido, hallucination, anorexia, tinnitus, skin discoloration, hiccups, sleepwalking, eye-rolling hostility, euphoric mood, dry mouth, agitation, confusion, insomnia, abnormal thinking, abnormal skin odor, depression, increased sweating, flatulence, abnormal dreams and belching. All possible side effects of Viagra, says The Wall Street Journal.

Planning ahead
        • A day away: Monday, Tomie dePaola, children's author/illustrator, introduces 26 Fairmount Avenue, 1 p.m at Oakley Blue Marble (731-2665), and 7-8:30 p.m. at Books & Co. in Kettering. (800) 777-4881.

• 48 hours out: Kids can see Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil during the Northgate Mall Kids' Day Out showing of The Rugrats Movie, 1 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Northgate Cinemas. 385-5600.

• 72 hours 'til Wednesday: It's a floral paradise at the Cincinnati Flower Show, opening 9 a.m. at Ault Park in Mount Lookout. Browse displays and markets through Sunday. $11, $3 children 3-12. Snag $9 adult tickets through today at Kroger's. 872-5194.
