GET TO IT

A guide to help make your day

Going out
        • Enrich yourself: Hear a champion of contemporary music tonight. Violist Kim Kashkashain performs as part of the Cincinnati Chamber Music Society concerts, 8 p.m., Cincinnati Art Museum auditorium. Pianist Robert Levin joins the artist. $20, $6 students. 533-0451.

Staying in
        • Critic's picks: So how big was Jennifer Grey's nose before the plastic surgery she jokes about on her new ABC comedy? TV Critic John Kiesewetter says see for yourself on Dirty Dancing (8:05 p.m. today, TBS), then catch her on It's Like, You Know (8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Channels 9, 2). And families using child care shouldn't miss Confronting the Crisis: Childcare in America (10 p.m., Lifetime).

What's in stores today
        • Critic's pick: A Bug's Life hits video stores today. Every frame of this astonishing animated work (from the same folks who brought us Toy Story) was created in computers. The result is as vivid, exciting, imaginative and funny as a family film can get says Enquirer film critic Margaret A. McGurk. Also out on video today: a digitally remastered 25th anniversary edition of the Barbra Steisand-Robert Redford classic The Way We Were.

Enquiring minds
        • The inner sanctum: Other than the obvious, what do you do in the bathroom? Among the more interesting findings of a survey by bathroom fixtures manufacturer American Standard is that 22 percent of Americans have a conversation with another person, 16 percent have telephone conversations, 12 percent wash their dog or cat and 10.5 percent watch TV or listen to music.

Brand spanking new
        • Eternal optimists: Hitting newsstands today is the premier issue of Bride Again, a magazine for encore brides. That's more than 40 percent of the 2.4 million women who marry each year. Articles: “Seven Secrets to Lasting Love” and “His, Hers or Our House?” The quarterly is $4.99.

Planning ahead
        • One Day Out: No duffin' allowed here. Take a different kind of “tea” time. Check out Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park Wednesday. A new exhibit called It's Tea Time! showscases works by 13 Cincinnati artists. It Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. 421-5707.

        • Two Days Out: TheFootlighters in Newport open Jesus Christ SuperstarThursday. The show runs through May 8. Shows at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday; special show, 8 p.m. May 5, Stained Glass Theatre, 802 York St., Newport. $11. 291-7464.

        • Three Days Out: You could be a radio star! Yes, you! Open auditions are 4 p.m. Friday for roles in three old radio show re-creations (Have Gun, Will Travel; Suspense; Richard Diamond) to be performed Friday night and Saturday at the 13th annual Old-Time Radio & Nostalgia Convention at the Sharonville Marriott Hotel, 11320 Chester Road. Starring in the productions will be Fred Foy (announcer for The Lone Ranger and Green Hornet), Bob Hastings (Archie Andrews, McHale's Navy) Peg Lynch (Ethel & Albert), Rosemary Rice (Archie Andrews, I Remember Mama) and Clive Rice (Bobby Benson). $7.
