Persistent salesman who frightened homeowner is indicted

LEBANON The eager pursuit of a sale has landed a Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman in court.
When no one answered his knock on the front door of a Meadow Lane residence Dec. 7, salesman Jeremy Osborne decided to try another, police said.
He went through the garage and began pounding on a door inside.
Now the 20-year-old Beavercreek man faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing, according to an indictment released Monday.
Even that was a break.
Warren County prosecutors had asked the grand jury to consider a more serious charge of burglary, but the grand jury decided there was not enough evidence.
Mr. Osborne's mistake, according to Warren County Prosecutor Tim Oliver, was to enter the closed garage through a screen door.
The garage was finished. It was part of the living quarters, Mr. Oliver said.
Had Mr. Osborne arrived later, he might even have made the sale.
The female occupant, who was home alone, had told one of Mr. Osborne's colleagues earlier to return for a presentation at 5:30 p.m., when her husband arrived home from work, Mr. Oliver said.
Mr. Osborne showed up at 4:30 p.m. and frightened the woman enough that she called Lebanon police, Mr. Oliver said.
Neither Mr. Osborne nor Kirby officials could be reached Monday.
