Former Lebanon student denies gun charge
The Cincinnati Enquirer
LEBANON A former Lebanon High School senior pleaded not guilty Friday to a felony charge of having a loaded gun on school grounds.
Andrew Szymanski, 18, remained free on bond after his arraignment before Judge P. Daniel Fedders in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
The hearing followed Mr. Szymanski's indictment April 19 on one count of illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance on school premises. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison.
Mr. Szymanski was arrested Feb. 17 after school officials and police said they found a .22-caliber rifle and an unloaded air pellet gun in the trunk of his car.
Mr. Szymanski, who has since been expelled, was at the school for a visit with a school psychologist. At the time he was suspended from school for allegedly writing a threatening note on an English test.
His parents have said their son had the guns in his car because he was going target shooting after his appointment at the school.
