Ballot issues




        Here are the issues on the ballot today in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

BUTLER COUNTY

COUNTYWIDE

        A 2.4-mill tax levy for the Butler County Children Services Board, to provide services for abused, neglected and dependent children. The levy will replace an existing 2-mill levy. The owner of a $100,000 home would pay $33 more per year.

SCHOOLS

        • Hamilton City School District: A 4.4-mill bond issue that would generate $45 million for classroom additions, upgrades and renovations to schools throughout the district. The issue would cost the owner of a $75,000 house about $101 a year.

        • Madison Local Schools: A 7.97-mill bond issue that would generate $12.77 million. That money would be used to build a high school and renovate the existing junior high and high school buildings. The owner of a $75,000 house would face a tax increase of $183 a year.

        • Ross Local School District: A 4.75-mill continuing levy for operating expenses. The cost to a $75,000 homeowner: $109 a year.

OTHER

        Village of Seven Mile: Renewal of a 2.69-mill operating levy. The levy would continue for five years. The cost to the owner of a $75,000 home: $62 a year.

CLERMONT COUNTY

        • Williamsburg Local School District: A five-year renewal of its current 3-mill operating levy. The owner of a $50,000 home would pay $45.94 annually.

HAMILTON COUNTY

       COUNTYWIDE

        A 1.06-mill tax increase for four years to raise $63.7 million for a new radio communications system for emergency response. Cost to the owner of a $100,000 home: $31 a year.

SCHOOLS

        • North College Hill School District: A 3.9-mill permanent improvement levy for renovations and repairs to buildings in the district. The levy would raise about $440,000 a year and cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $113.77 a year.

OTHER

        • City of Cincinnati: Proposed amendment to the city charter that would provide for direct election of the mayor in 2001 with enhanced powers for the position.

        • North College Hill: A replacement levy for senior services and senior center. The levy would continue to be a half-mill, but would be based on current property values, rather than on 1979 property values. The levy would generate $51,000 a year for the next five years. It would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $14.58 a year.

        • Montgomery: A 5.55-mill levy for fire services. The levy would replace an existing 3.95 mills, approved by voters a decade ago. It would generate an estimated $1.6 million a year. It would cost the owner of a $200,000 home $388.50 annually.

WARREN COUNTY

SCHOOLS

        • Kings Local School District: A 3.57-mill bond issue that would generate $23.5 million. Plans include building two elementary schools and major renovations to J.F. Burns Elementary. The issue would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $109 annually.

        • Lebanon schools: An addi tional 3.52-mill operating levy for teacher and support staff pay and benefits. The five-year levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $107 a year.

        • Springboro School District: A 4.6-mill, five-year levy to hire more staff. The levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 house about $141 a year.

        • Wayne Local Schools: A five-year, 3.08-mill renewal levy for operations. The issue would cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $94 a year.

OTHER

        • City of Lebanon: Two charter amendments. One would allow city council to meet in executive session and the other would require council to establish a recreation board.

        • Waynesville: A 5.5-mill replacement levy for police protection. The five-year levy would replace an expiring 5-mill levy. Money would be used for operations and to upgrade worn and outdated equipment. It would cost the owner of a $100,000 house about $58 a year in new taxes.

        • Harlan Township: A 1-mill, five-year levy for roads and bridges. It would cost the owner of a $100,000 house about $30 a year.
