Three indicted on weapons charges
Police say defendants Prosecutors suspect planned plan to trade stolen guns for drugs
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A Hamilton County grand jury indicted three men and one woman Monday on charges of possessing 26 stolen guns when police stopped them last month for a routine traf fic violation.
Prosecutors say they apparently intended to trade the guns for crack cocaine.
Three of the defendants Mary Beth Ohair, Earl Stephens and Bobby Wells face 26 charges of receiving stolen property and one charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
The fourth, Jerome Stanford, is charged with one count of having weapons while under disability, which means a prior offense made it illegal for him to carry a weapon.
Prosecutors say the guns were discovered after police stopped a car driven by Ms. Ohair on April 23. They say each defendant carried a gun and a search led to the other 26 weapons.
