Father killed, 3 children hurt in Butler Co. crash

The Cincinnati Enquirer

ROSS TOWNSHIP — Three children were injured and their father was killed when their pickup crashed and flipped over in a ditch Wednesday night.

Joshua Strong Sr., 36, of Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 1900 block of Millville-Shandon Road (Ohio 748). He was a construction worker.

His children, Robert, 11, and Tosha, 14, were in serious condition Wednesday at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati. Their brother, Joshua Jr., 17, was in surgery at University Hospital; no condition was available.

They were injured around 9:30 p.m. as their 1982 Ford pickup went out of control, crossed the center line, hit a fence and then went into the ditch, a Butler County sheriff's report says.

The pickup was traveling “at a very high rate of speed,” said Bradley Kraemer, sheriff's spokesman.

Investigators spent Thursday trying to learn more about events preceding the crash. Mr. Kraemer did not know whether the Strongs wore seat belts.
