TV critic John Kiesewetter also suggests that you tape Mobil Masterpiece Theatre's Great Expectations miniseries (9-11 p.m. today and Monday, Channels 48, 54, 16) and watch the season finale of The Practice (10 p.m., Channels 9, 2). Or vice versa.
What's in stores today
Opera pin: Cincinnati Opera's new pin was created for Bittners by Carlton Ridge, a Louisville designer. It's a musical lyre motif, inspired by the architecture of Music Hall, the opera's home. Each pin, $50, is brass covered in 24K gold or nickel silver. The pins are at Bittners in Kenwood Galleria and will be sold at Music Hall during Cincinnati Opera's 1999 Summer Festival (June 17-July 17). A portion of sales will benefit the opera company. 891-4990.

Forewarned: Fears that the Year 2000 computer bug will create havoc has caused companies nationwide to limit even forbid vacation time at the end of the year, Knight Ridder News Service reports. Some of the bans are just a couple days or so. Others will last months. Technicians, utility workers, bankers, city employees, emergency personnel and financial consultants are among those who'll be shelving their party hats and noisemakers come Dec. 31.
