Woodlawn lands Trane center
Offices to employ about 60

WOODLAWN After much negotiation, village officials have landed a new busi ness.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Friday along Springfield Pike, just south of Glendale Milford Road, for the 45,000 square-foot facility that will house the Greater Cincinnati offices of the Trane Co.
A division of Fortune 500 company American Standard, Trane is a manufacturer and distributor of air-conditioning products, plumbing fixtures and medical supplies, said John W. Conover IV, district manager for the Cincinnati and Columbus areas.
Mr. Conover said the company chose Woodlawn because it had sufficient space to accommodate the project.
We couldn't find anything in Cincinnati with such close access to the highway and enough space, he said.
Trane will be about five miles south of Interstate 275 and about five miles west of Interstate 75.
The facility will be built by Evendale-based Neyer Properties, Inc. and should be completed by December, village officials said. Neyer will own the building and lease the space to Trane.
The Trane building will become part of a new office, research and retail development in Woodlawn, said David Neyer, president of Neyer Properties.
The development will feature substantial landscaping and set the tone for the new Woodlawn Commerce Park being developed along Springfield Pike, near the former Burchenal Estate, which is also being developed into luxury apartments, Mr. Neyer said.
Trane will consolidate its regional sales office, training facility, parts department and dealer sales group into the new space, housing about 60 employees.
Mr. Conover said an expansion could mean an additional 10-20 new jobs.
