TRISTATE MARKET SPOTLIGHT

Hillenbrand earnings miss mark

Hillenbrand Industries Inc. said after the market closed Tuesday that second quarter operating earnings will be about 59 cents a share, 12 cents below analysts' estimates of 71 cents compiled by First Call.

Stock of the Batesville, Ind., hospital bed and funeral products company closed Tuesday up 121/2 cents at $47.561/4.

Hillenbrand, which will report results July 6, said its Hill-Rom hospital bed unit was experiencing lower sales in long-term residential care products and lower profit margins in acute care beds.
