What's in stores today
Millenium (Jive; $17.99 CD, $11.99 cassette) is the second full-length CD by the Backstreet Boys, just in time to cash in on junior high school peer pressure before the distractions of summer vacation, says pop music critic Larry Nager. The first single, I Want It That Way, is already all over Top 40 radio.
Jimmy Buffett's Beach House on the Moon (Margaritaville/Island; $17.99 CD; $11.99 cassette) is the latest message in a tequila bottle from the Tristate's favorite beachcomber, coming to Riverbend Aug. 19 and 21 (the latter date is sold out).
Tarzan (Walt Disney Records; $17.99 CD; $10.99 cassette) is the soundtrack CD for the summer's animated feature from the Mouse. Phil Collins is the veteran British rock star handling musical chores this time out and the African-influenced results sound a bit like his old Genesis mate Peter Gabriel.,
The week's big rap release comes straight out of the hot Memphis hip-hop scene, with platinum rappers Eightball & M.J.G.'s latest, In Our Lifetime Vol. 1 (Suave House/Universal; $17.99 CD; $10.99 cassette).
