Car crashes through wall, into apartment

The Cincinnati Enquirer

An elderly Roselawn woman narrowly avoided serious injury when a car crashed into her apartment Saturday morning.

Margaret Houston, 67, of Hirsch Drive was slightly hurt when the car crashed into her building, part of the Courtyard Apartments for senior citizens, police said. She did not require hospitalization.

The force of the impact sent the vehicle crashing through a wall and into Ms. Houston's apartment.

While Ms. Houston did not require medical treatment, the driver of the car, Floyd B. Whaley, 42, of Norwood, did. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was in fair condition Saturday night, police said.

Cincinnati police investigators said they were still trying to piece together what may have caused the accident Saturday night. It was not alcohol-related, they said.

According to police, Mr. Whaley was driving northbound on Hirsch Drive about 11:30 a.m. Saturday when he apparently lost control.

His car veered off the road, crossed a parking lot and crashed into the senior home, police said.
