BY CAROL NORRIS

Contemporary Dance Theater's 1999-2000 guest artist series is its most ambitious to date. With the renowned Garth Fagan (choreographer for Broadway's The Lion King) bringing his concert dance group and the ever-popular Parsons Dance Company returning, it promises to be an audience-friendly season.

Single tickets will go on sale this summer; subscriptions are available at 591-2557.

        Here is the season:

        • Oct. 1-2 - Joe Goode Performance Group. The San Francisco company will present Deeply There: A story of a Neighborhood, a full-evening work described as a “zany musical with an amazing cast of unforgettable characters.” The performance marks the return of SCPA grad Marc Morozumi. who's dancing with the company.

        • Nov. 5-6 - Parsons Dance Company. A former Paul Taylor dancer, David Parsons makes works that are bought up in bunches by companies of all stripes, from modern to ballet. One of the most popular groups to visit Cincinnati, they were last seen here in 1996.

        • Feb. 18-19 - Chen and Dancers. This New York-based, American group reflects a Chinese sensibility and style.

        • March 24-25 - Garth Fagan Company. Before winning a Tony Award for his dances in The Lion King, Mr. Fagan directed his own company. He's back to it, whipping up works that reflect his African, Caribbean and modern dance backgrounds.

        • April 28-29 - Maureen Fleming. A solo artist, she will present her Butoh dance form (Japanese-based) in a sculptural dance that hints at another time and place.

        • June 2-3 - Regional Choreographers Concert. This is the annual event that features works of local choreographers in new works.

Performances begin at 8:30 p.m. and will take place at the Aronoff Center for the Arts Jarson-Kaplan Theater, 650 Walnut St., downtown. Tickets will be available at the Aronoff Box Office or call 241-7469.

The Performance and Time Arts Series also will return, bringing together music, theater, dance and literature in original productions. Dates TBA; 8 p.m. curtain at College Hill Town Hall, 1805 Larch Ave., 591-2557.
