D-Day: Bulletin by bulletin

WVXU-FM to repeat compilation of news

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Tristate residents can experience the drama of D-Day with D-Day Plus 50 Years, the WVXU-FM Peabody Award-winning compilation of radio news bulletins repeating 2-9 p.m. today. Peabody jurors said D-Day Plus 50 Years, originally broadcast as a 12-hour marathon in 1994, “dramatically presents the state of radio and America on that momentous day in history when the Allied liberation of Europe began.”

The program includes reports from NBC, CBS, ABC and Mutual networks, and some Cincinnati stations, from several Tristate audio collectors.

“This is the most important military event of the 20th century,” said Jim King, WVXU-FM general manager. “It's a neat way to end the century.”

WVXU-FM (91.7) plans to reissue the 12-hour program on compact discs later this year.

It has sold all of its boxed sets of 12 audio cassettes.
