LEBANON The high school principal, a state auditor and Sycamore's assistant superintendent for instruction are among 13 candidates vying to become Lebanon's school superintendent.
Superintendent Robert Harvey resigned last month after four years with the district because he wanted to leave on a good note after two levies passed this year. His last day is Aug. 11.
Lebanon schools have experienced almost a 40 percent increase in enrollment in the last decade. Enrollment, which was about 4,400 students in the fall, is projected to increase to 7,492 in the 2007-08 school year, based on recent trends.
The board intends to hire a superintendent by the beginning of the school year, and the deadline to apply was Tuesday.
Candidates are:
Joseph Davis of San Bernardino, Calif. Mr. Davis has been assistant superintendent of personnel with the Rialto Schools in California for seven years.
Joseph DeLuca of Dayton, Ohio. Mr. DeLuca has been director of human resources for Springboro Schools for two years.
Richard Highfield of Port Clinton, Ohio. Mr. Highfield has been auditor in charge with the state auditor's office for one year.
Samuel Ison of Lebanon. Mr. Ison has been Lebanon's high school principal for three years.
Thomas O'Rourke of Williamsport, Pa. Mr. O'Rourke has been a high school principal at Bishop Neumann in Pennsylvania for two years.
Carl Parks of Harrison. Mr. Parks has been a high school principal with Lockland Schools for seven years.
Sherry Parr of West Chester. Ms. Parr has been an elementary principal with Reading Schools for seven years.
Jon Reinhard of Mason. Mr. Reinhard has been a high school principal at Clermont Northeastern for two years. He also is on the Mason school board.
Gail Rose of Lebanon. Ms. Rose has been curriculum supervisor with Miamisburg Schools near Dayton for two years.

Willie Watts of Akron. Mr. Watts has been supervisor of pupil personnel of East Cleveland Schools for a year.
William Wittman of Newark, Ohio. Mr. Wittman has been director of communications with Newark Schools for 12 years.
Two community dialogues were held this month seeking input on the characteristics the district should seek in a new superintendent.
The board also established a Com munity Input Committee of 15 staff and community members.
The committee also will interview final candidates, but the board will make the final decision, district spokeswoman Carole Dorn has said.
